Lay in the light is the follow-up to Sunol’s debut EP, Ohlone.
Recorded over the course of six months in Brooklyn, New York, the album’s ten songs feature a mix of West African instrumentation and percussion with new American folk songwriting and arrangements.
Taking cues from late 1970s California classic rock, every song prominently features layered multipart harmonies. The album’s ten original songs range from the electronic folk of the opener, Pendleton waves, to the entirely acoustic arrangement of The oaks and the pines.
